What is a Dental Bridge?

If you are missing one or several missing teeth, a dental bridge can be used to hold a replacement tooth in place. The bridge essentially grasps onto local, healthy teeth, and holds the dental crown in place over the gap where the natural tooth formerly stood. The crown and dental bridge will effectively replace your missing tooth and correct your bite, while giving you back your full smile.

How do we place Bridges?

Spring Branch TX bridge dentist Dr. Chavez will first evaluate your bite and mouth structure to determine what kind of dental bridge will work best for you.

Once Dr. Chavez has evaluated your case, we will begin to craft the dental crown that will be used to replace your missing tooth. During this time, a temporary bridge may be placed in order to prevent further moving of nearby teeth to fill the gap.

When the replacement has been completed, he will bond and cement the bridge in place, surrounding the gap, and attach the dental crown. You will then regain the aesthetic and function of a full smile!

Why should I get a Bridge placed?

When you lose one or more teeth, any found nearby tend to shift and fill in the gap. Spring Branch Dental Care dentist Dr. Chavez advises against letting them shift, because it will negatively affect your bite and appearance. In addition, when the shifting begins, it also has an effect on your jaw structure. As part of your smile is no longer in place, the jaw shrinks to fill in the area, and your facial appearance can also be affected and appear “caved-in.”
