Having a beautiful smile is very important when it comes to making and maintaining quality relationships with those people around you. Spring Branch TX dentist, Dr. Jairo Chavez, aims to help you maintain that gorgeous smile with in-office dental cleanings and properly performed home dentistry care.
Dr. Chavez has been working in the dentistry field for over eighteen years and has seen a lot of patients looking for tips on how to best take care of their teeth and smiles so that they could avoid tooth fillings and other restorative dentistry work. For each and every one of them, he recommended that they maintain a regular dental hygiene regimen and to come into the office for a professional dental cleaning and examination every six-months. Those patients that followed Dr. Chavez’ advice were least likely to have a dental disease or condition. As a matter of fact, Dr. Chavez has successfully been treating dental patients in the greater Spring Branch, Boerne, Bulverde, Blanco, and Canyon Lake areas for many years.

Why should I have my teeth cleaned by a dental hygienist?
While one of the more obvious reasons to have your teeth cleaned by one of our friendly dental hygienists may be so that your teeth stay as white as they can be, the more important goal is to prevent decay and disease from building up and or forming in your mouth.
Your Spring Branch TX dentistry team suggests that you maintain good dental cleaning methods while at home, but sometimes there are areas that are just too difficult to reach with floss and a toothbrush. These spaces, and any plaque buildup formed from inadequate brushing and flossing, must be cleaned before a cavity or gum disease forms on the tooth and gums. Failure to do so may result in the need of a filling, root canal, or the loss of a tooth.
How should I take care of my teeth at home?
Home dental hygiene can be really easy and benefit your long-term health, so long as you maintain a regular schedule for flossing and brushing, and have a balanced diet.
Flossing:
Flossing is one of the most important parts of the hygiene process, because it helps to protect your gums—which help hold your teeth in place! Take a decent length of floss and wrap it around your middle fingers, and gently guide the floss between your teeth in a sawing motion and around each tooth in a C shape.
Brushing:
Brushing your teeth at least twice a day, at morning and at night, can help keep your teeth nice and fresh. Simply and gently brush at a 45 degree angle, starting at the gums, and work your way across all of your teeth in a circular motion. Be sure to hit all sides of each tooth, including the biting surface and the back!
